Boxing Day at Burg Wernberg traditionally revolves around haute cuisine, starting at the Castle Lounge with a »Feuerzangenbowle« brandy punch and a selection of finger food, followed by an exquisite 5-course menu prepared by our chef de cuisine, Robert Morgan, served in a seasonally decorated Great Hall, and accompanied by live piano music.
Sizzling Start: »Feuerzangenbowle«
A very different kind of aperitif: »Feuerzangenbowle«, a rum-soaked sugar loaf set on fire dripping into mulled wine, is a traditional alcoholic drink and very popular around this time of the year. Accompanied by finger food and served either in the lounge and our wine cellars, or outside in the courtyard if the weather decides to play along.
Treat yourself to an outstanding culinary experience involving amuse-bouche, tasty petit fours and an exquisite 5-course menu prepared by our chef de cuisine, Robert Morgan. Also includes world-class vintage selected from our wine cellars.
Seasonally Themed Piano Music
Enjoy your meal whilst listening to seasonally themed music performed by piano prodigy Christoph Pauli.
Afternoon Tea – Hotel Guest Special
Exclusively to our guests: traditional English afternoon tea at the Castle Lounge, with sweet treats, scones and finger sandwiches from the Shires. Served in the Castle Lounge at 2 pm!
Christoph Pauli’s skills as a composer, arranger and performer lead to his appointment as Musical Director of »Gottschalk Late Night«, aired on RTL TV during the mid-90s. Also, being an exceptionally accomplished pianist means there isn’t a genre Christoph doesn’t excel at: classical music, jazz, pop, rock, easy listening, you name it. Naturally, this also includes the nation’s favourite Christmas tunes from across the planet.
